One of the main highlights was the first ever Jollof Rice Competition hosted in the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvani USA – The participants, all seasoned Jollof Rice experts included Sobey Salako, Priscilla Anyeh, Eugenia Ugoh and Ronke Hughes, with Ronke Hughes crowned as the Jollof Rice Queen 2019.
The Winner Biography
Let me tell you about myself. My name is Ronke Hughes. I am the last child born to my parents, Elder and Reverend Mrs. Akinleye. I was born in the big city of Lagos, Nigeria. I am a Computer Scientist with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and Information Technology from the Igbinedion University, Okada, Nigeria, 2004. I also hold an Associate Degree in Electronic Health records (CEHR), from McCann School of Business and Technology, 2012. I currently work at St. Luke’s Gastroenterology Specialist, Allentown PA as a Procedure Coordinator.
I am an Event Coordinator and own my business, RHB Services. The business specializes in planning events with details involving, catering, decorations, party rentals and entertainment.
Winning the Jollof Rice contest at the Africa Art and Culture Festival in Lehigh Valley has solidified my work ethics that hard work and adequate preparation pays off and is rewarding. This is a principle I apply to all my endeavors as I set my achievement goals.
I reside in Whitehall, Pennsylvania with my husband and two beautiful children. I love God, my family and friends. I enjoy evening strolls, dance and most importantly cooking and entertaining.
